Needle's Haystack

This stone is from the magnesite family and is called Wild Horse Turquoise. It is NOT from the same family of stones as the bluish turquoise. Wild horse turquoise is a relatively new find from Arizona and is rapidly gaining in popularity. It is sometimes called Appaloosa or Crazy Horse Magnesite because the patterns resemble spots on a horse. This cabochon is 18x13mm and is set in a sterling silver ring, size 10. Note the darker maroon section on one end and the yellowish spot on the other end.
